A snoot, or lens cover, is an accessory that mounts onto the lens opening of most photo hides we offer. One version fits the wildlife photo hides of the Falco series, and a separate version is made for the newer Buteo and Aquila Mark III photo hide series.
What does a snoot do?
A snoot camouflages your lens while photographing from a hide and protects it against rain and dust, acting as extra camouflage and a camera rain cover in one. It also frees up your hands — you no longer need to hold the fabric opening closed around your lens while you work, which also keeps your hands out of sight from wary animals.
Which snoot fits my hide?
- Buteo & Aquila Mark III — available in Brown, Green, Reed and Snow to match your hide.
- Falco Mark II & III — available in a camouflage pattern, Green and Snow.
Check whether your hide belongs to the Falco series or the Mark III series before ordering, since the two versions are not interchangeable. If you are unsure which photo hide you own, get in touch and we will help you find the right match.
Frequently asked questions about snoots
Do I need a snoot if my hide already has a lens opening?
The standard lens opening works without one, but a snoot adds extra camouflage, keeps rain and dust off your lens, and frees your hands from holding the fabric in place.
Can I use a Falco snoot on a Mark III hide, or the other way round?
No, the mounting and sizing differ between the Falco series and the Mark III series, so the two are not interchangeable.
Does the colour of the snoot need to match my hide exactly?
Matching the colour gives the most seamless camouflage, but any of the available colours will still conceal and protect your lens.
