Eric Medard
OverviewEric Medard (France)
I'm Eric Medard, I'm 54 years old and live in the west of France in an old farm lost in the countryside.
I had a university degree in Natural Sciences and after that became a teacher.
But for 12 years now, I left the teaching profession to devote himself solely to wildlife photography.
The last 25 years I spent developing my trap-cameras equipment, now with the help of infrared light I'm taking pictures of wild animals too shy to see them during the day or only because they are nocturnal animals.With his information I learned to recognize the tracks, droppings of wild animals, learned about their ecology and with so much time spent watching them, I can now predict their passageways and put his camera trap exactly where they must be.
So my speciality is wildlife photography: I work a lot (or only) in my own hides. I love mammals, raptors but in fact I love all birds and I work a lot from floating hides. I'm currently working on a book about all this knd of work in a big pond near my home.
I always work from a photohide because I don't want to disturb wildlife. Sometimes in the top of a tree, sometimes from the water, sometimes on or under the ground !
I've written four books:
The first one was a technical book about trap-camera pictures;
The second one was 'Libres et Sauvages'.
The third was 'Moon Passengers' ('Passeurs de Lunes' in French).
And the last one is 'A l'affût du Sauvage' (wait for the wildlife).
